Whether inspired by pure joy or genuine despair, CONANT brings depth and honesty to his music. As both a talented musician and lyricist, the Vermont native blends the spirit and tradition of folk with a thoroughly modern style. He is joined, on stage, by Sophie Alice. Sophie is an extremely talented singer/songwriter, violinist, and cellist and adds great soul and depth to the songs through her instrumentals and vocals.
CONANT was one of the 2018 Vermont Singer/Songwriter competition finalists. Since then, he has worked with accomplished producer and musician Colin McCaffrey, mandolin master, Billy Corbett, and singer/songwriter, Fern Maddie, whose album Ghost Story was The Guardian’s 2022 #2 Folk Album of the year to produce his debut 2023 EP, Gavia Immer. He has worked with other groups, including an ongoing collaboration with the group, Remember Baker.
Inspired by the music and lyrics of John Prine and Gregrory Alan Isakov, CONANT’s music and performances inspire audiences to step into a familiar world where they can experience joy, loneliness, fear, humor, regret, and hope. His music has been called “modern day campfire music”.
