274 Years of Tuscan winemaking —Now at shelburne vineyard
For a limited time, Wine Club members have exclusive first access to wines from our partner vineyards in Tuscany, available at special introductory pricing.
Sam Coppola, one of the owners of Shelburne Vineyard, is from Italy and has partnered with the families behind Poggio alla Sala and Gattavecchi, who have cultivated the hills of Montepulciano, Tuscany, for centuries. Today, that legacy arrives in Vermont through our direct partnership with these historic estates.
This is more than a tasting—it’s your opportunity to help shape what comes next. Be among the first to experience these wines, share your thoughts, and tell us what belongs in future Wine Club selections.
Gattavecchi Rosso di Montepulciano 2022 (Introductory Price: $10)
Deep ruby in color, the Rosso di Montepulciano opens with delicate aromas of wild berries. Full, elegant, and harmonious on the palate, it’s a versatile Tuscan red that can be enjoyed on its own while still having enough character to complement more elaborate dishes. A wonderful introduction to the wines of Montepulciano.
Gattavecchi Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 2019 (Introductory Price: $15)
A standout of our three Tuscan selections, this Vino Nobile di Montepulciano received a 91-point rating from Wine Enthusiast. Dry, warm, and robust, it offers an elegant bouquet with notes of ripe plum, while its deep garnet color hints at the richness and structure in the glass. It’s a natural companion for red meats, game, and well-seasoned cheeses. Gattavecchi recommends opening the bottle at least two hours before serving or decanting it to allow the wine to fully open.
Gattavecchi Vernaccia di San Gimignano 2022 (Introductory Price: $10)
For something completely different, the Vernaccia takes us to the historic hills of San Gimignano. Aromatic and harmonious, it finishes with the distinctive touch of bitter almond characteristic of the variety, while its straw-yellow color carries subtle hints of gold. Its structure also gives it unusual aging potential for a white wine. Serve it chilled alongside antipasti, risotto, white meats, or fish.
