An Exhibition of paintings by Susan Abbott Artist Reception: Sunday, June 2 2pm - 4pm
"Vermont Journal: Small Paintings from Four Seasons"
Susan Abbott is known nationally for her unique large-scale still life and landscapes . In her current show "Vermont Journal" at Shelburne Vineyard she uses her eye for vivid color and unusual composition on a more intimate scale. Abbott creates these plein air paintings as a way to pay attention to changing light and color in the landscape outside of her studio, and the result is a vivid visual journal of Vermont's four seasons.
Susan Abbott graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA and MFA in painting from the Maryland Institute, College of Art. She has worked as a professional artist since that time, exhibiting in galleries and museums around the country, and her paintings are represented in numerous corporate and individual collections. Her work has appeared in publications that include “American Artist”, “International Artist” and “Watercolor Magazine”, and has been featured on NPR’s Diane Rehm Show and the Oprah Winfrey Show. She has been the recipient of grants from the Vermont and Maryland Arts Councils, and of numerous private and public painting commissions, including the “Art of Action” project. In Vermont her paintings are represented by West Branch Gallery in Stowe and Gallery North Star in Grafton. She lives in Marshfield, Vermont.
