Watercolors by Shanley Triggs
Shanley Triggs began painting in her 30's. A self-taught watercolorist, she discovered that the challenge and process of creating a painting was something she truly enjoyed and since has devoted over two decades to the medium of watercolor. Shanley started showing her watercolors in the 90's at art festivals as well as Vermont juried shows in which she received awards for her work. Scenes of her native Vermont, images of favorite flowers, as well as paintings of her mother’s china teacups seemed to resonate with people.
In 2002, she created her business known as Vermont H’Art, under which she now sells her original work and prints. Her 5 x 7 miniature prints can be found in specialty gift shops and country stores throughout Vermont. She has been a participant in the Vermont week at Johnson Studio School in Johnson, Vermont, the BCA Artists Market for five years, an On the Grounds Artist at Shelburne Museum and was a recipient of an artist development grant from the Vermont Council on the Arts.
Shanley grew up on a dairy farm in the Champlain Valley Town of Milton and as a child spent countless hours roaming the Vermont hills and playing in the haybarn. Naturally, her inspiration comes from scenes of barns and landscapes as well as Lake Champlain. Her family history and strong connection to the land of Vermont is shown in what she chooses to paint.
